In this session, Ryan McArthur covers the lessons which can be learned from the largest, most significant data breaches based upon publicly available information on the Internet. Using articles from leading news organizations such as the New York Times, Computer World, Security Intelligence, etc., for each of the largest and most damaging breaches, including Equifax, this presentation briefly reviews and analyses key points of breakdown. Society expects organizations spending millions of dollars a year on Information Security would be very secure, yet, these organizations experience breaches. The core of this presentation examines common sense ideas and security industry best practices you might use to prevent a similar sequence of events happening to your organization.

MTUG thanks boardmember Keven Heatley and Austin Brower for their assistance in developing the topic and coordinating the technology, respectively, for this session.
